Want to rent or own a condominium in a quiet, out of the way seaside community? Well, Ormond by the Sea in Florida is just such a place. Some people have a rather stereotypical view of Florida: little cinder block homes sitting right on the beach. In the case of Ormond by the Sea real estate, that is not too far from the truth, even today.
If you are looking for real estate - either to rent or own - Ormond by the Sea is an ideal community, but the pickings are rather limited. As it is a small town (just under two square miles!) out on a barrier island, it does not have much property available. But, good rental properties can still be found. Some of the beach front bungalows go for as little as $85 to $100 a week! Not bad for a vacation in paradise. Now, given the small size of the town, there are not many Ormond by the Sea condos available for sale. And, when they are, they are pretty pricey – upwards of $300,000.
The community also boasts one of the finest beaches on the east coast of Florida. Beach fishing, deep see fishing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing, and so forth and so on, are all available there. Getting out to the town is a bit of a roundabout journey, but it is well worth it. One of the virtues (some might say, drawbacks) of a barrier island is that it is - by definition - an island! So, access is via the nearest bridge. In the case of Ormond by the Sea, that would be State Road 40, several miles to the south.
So, you have to ask yourself: what are you looking for in a location? If it is Disney World, Fantasy Fest in Key West, or the untouched natural beauty of the Everglades, go somewhere else. But, if cool sea breezes and a quiet, easy-going pace, and all that the sea has to offer (as mentioned above) are what you desire - Ormond by the Sea real estate is the answer to a prayer. Because of its location, there is one major road (the old Route 1A) running through it! Talk about peaceful and out of the way.
Yet, don’t for a minute worry that you are going to be in some Podunk town! If the peace and quiet gets on your nerves, hop on that one road and head out of town. Beautiful, picturesque St. Augustine (oldest community in North America) is only about an hour to the north. The Kennedy Space Center is roughly the same distance to the south, and several outstanding golf courses are just over on the mainland: the LPGA International Golf Course, Plantation Bay Golf Club and Halifax Plantation Golf Club. Add to that, the famous Daytona Beach Speedway, for those racing fans among your group.
If communing with nature is your thing, there are several wonderful state parks in the area: the North Peninsula State Recreation Area, Bulow Plantation Ruins State Park, and Tomoka State Park to name only three – plenty of reasons to check out Ormond by the Sea real estate.
